DENVER’S PERFECT 10

COUNCIL DISTRICT 10 · CHRIS HINDS

DENVER’S PERFECT 10

Privacy Policy

Many for-profit companies offer “free” services to website owners. They may not cost the webmaster money, but they carry a privacy cost to you, the visitor. This site (and all related platforms) prioritizes open-source software, which keeps its code open to inspection and its data in-house rather than handed to third parties who might use it in ways beyond our control.

What data we collect and why

Comments: We do not currently offer visitor comments, so we do not collect that information. If we ever enable comments, we would collect the data shown in the comment form plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string to help detect spam.

Media: We do not currently allow visitor media uploads. If you ever upload images, avoid images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), since visitors can download and extract that data.

Contact forms: If you use our contact form, that information is sent to us. We may record metadata such as the time of submission to understand your reason for contacting us and to identify spam. We do not share it with third parties except where a specific party (for example, an agency within the City and County of Denver) helps us address your request.

Cookies

If commenting is ever enabled and you opt in, your name, email, and website may be saved in cookies for your convenience for one year. A temporary cookie may check whether your browser accepts cookies when visiting a login page; it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Editors who log in will have standard WordPress login and screen-option cookies as described by WordPress.

Embedded content from other sites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website, and those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.

Analytics

We collect basic, aggregate information about visitors to understand who the site serves and how to organize it well. We do not sell that information and do not intend to. Our analytics tool is Matomo, an open-source alternative to handing your data to large for-profit companies, and we self-host it, so no third party has access to what we collect.

Who we share your data with

We have no relationships with third parties whose intent is to profit from your information or metadata, and no interest in creating them. Any data shared is only to better serve the constituents of District 10, for example engaging a City and County of Denver agency to address your request.

How long we retain your data

For anyone who registers on the site (if enabled), we store the profile information they provide. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except their username); administrators can also see and edit it.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account or have contacted us, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, and you can ask us to erase it. This does not include data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Warrant canary

In the spirit of privacy best practices, we publish a warrant-canary statement. As of the last update of this page: No federal, state, or local agency has issued a subpoena for information contained on this website. No agency has issued a subpoena for customer or metadata collected by this website. We have received no warrants or gag orders of any kind. We have not been asked to spy on visitors or install backdoors. We have not been raided, and have no noteworthy seizures.
